XOXO, Chlorophyll Water

Grocery Shopping Tips to Help Build Up Your Immune System by Dr. Lily Kiswani, MD

Grocery Shopping Tips to Help Build Up Your Immune System by Dr. Lily Kiswani, MD

Chlorophyll is an immunity booster and aids in detox. That is one of the reasons why a green smoothie is such a great idea. But if making a green smoothie is challenging, liquid chlorophyll is a simple short cut to obtain the benefits.

My top recommendation is an organically sourced Omega 3 supplement. Other supplements I recommend are Vitamin D, protein ( in India most of us are protein deficient) and an organic multivitamin.

Chlorophyll has been used as a health supplement for years, and a variety of studies suggest that it is helpful for skin conditions such as acne, body odors, and fighting cancer. Chlorophyll also has blood-building properties because it is similar to hemoglobin. So, it may be useful in treating hemoglobin deficiencies that are present in conditions such as anemia.

I only recommend organic supplements, and I love Garden of Life products. I always suggest that my clients take their first step toward a healthy life by taking the appropriate Garden of Life multi-vitamin with a full glass water every day. Often it’s the simple, easy steps – like that, that will keep people on track.

Antioxidants & Natural Supplements with Gabrielle Tafur

I can recall my dad putting liquid chlorophyll / chlorophyll water into our foods when we were younger and being completely put off by the color-until I did my research.  It's been said to help with blood detoxification, odor control, wound healing, gut health, energy, immune system support and cancer prevention. I have often heard it referred to as “plant blood”! I can always justify the price of a wheatgrass shot after knowing the benefits this food has been known for and do not hesitate to grab one at every opportunity that I can. In fact, I have opted to even purchase the frozen cubes to throw into my smoothies as well to get the added benefit.

Micronutrient Deficiency & the Benefits of Vitamins by Mira Dessy, The Ingredient Guru

Micronutrient Deficiency & the Benefits of Vitamins by Mira Dessy, The Ingredient Guru

Micronutrient deficiency is a common health issue and can impact a wide range of body systems. When looking to modify the diet to help improve micronutrient status it is important to remember that you don’t want to rely on just one food for nutrient repletion. For example, don’t only eat sweet potatoes to replenish Vitamin A. The reason for eating a broad variety of foods to replenish nutritional status is two fold. One, eating the same foods over and over can create a hypersensitivity to those foods, causing inflammation and gut health disruption. The other is that foods have a synergistic balance of nutrients and by eating lots of different foods you get the benefit of the other phyto and micronutrients in the variety of foods.

Chlorophyll is a powerful antioxidant and has a wide variety of benefits. Consuming chlorophyll on a regular basis can help reduce your risk of developing cancer and aid your body in eliminating toxins. It is a natural anti-inflammatory which can help reduce chronic inflammatory problems such as arthritis. This is because it reduces the production of TNF-α, which is a pro-inflammatory chemical. It is also a natural antimicrobial and has some activity against candida albicans as well. Chlorophyll can even help improve your CoQ10 production, which is important for energy production and cardiovascular health. This is why I've always been a big fan of chlorophyll water, especially if you don't consume as many leafy greens as you should.

Best Sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C and Vitamin D by Dr. Lina Velikova, MD

Best Sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C and Vitamin D by Dr. Lina Velikova, MD

Vitamin B12 is one of the key nutrients for our nerves and blood cells. Its benefits are best assessed when a person has a deficit of it. The deficit reflects on nerves that are tingly, especially in hands and feet, but also fatigue, loss of appetite, general weakness, constipation, and in more severe deficit cases, megaloblastic anemia. Increased vitamin B12 (through diet, as the best option) helps alleviate these symptoms.
The major benefit of vitamin C is its antioxidant property that helps protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals emerge in our body due to processing the food into energy and from the outside pollution - cigarette smoke, environmental pollution, and UV lights from sun rays. Vitamin C also helps our body absorb iron. It helps create collagen, the protein that is the foundation for many tissues, especially the skin.
