After over a decade working in the stressful environment of the NYC corporate world, I had a forced hiatus when I lost my job. Finally, I had time to take more yoga. My health and my whole life began to shift for the better, and I couldn’t imagine going back to a work environment in which I was so unhappy and unhealthy. I felt such gratitude for yoga, the community, and my teachers that I wanted to become a teacher myself.

I got into yoga when I was performing in a show in Arizona and I was the youngest person in the cast by 20 years. After rehearsal they would go home to their families, and since I was from out of town I didn't have anywhere to go so I found a yoga studio. I realized how much the practice was impacting my life off the mat and knew when I returned to NYC that I needed to be more consistent and diligent in my practice. Which led to me becoming a studio manager, teacher, and teacher training facilitator.

Yoga has always been the most helpful to me at the points in my life where I'm emotionally exhausted + stressed. It gives me clarity + strength to get me through whatever is going on. It's the only thing besides running that allows me to just focus on my breath + the movement and nothing else for the duration of the class.

Specifically speaking, my yoga practice started off as a strictly Vinyasa Flow, learning from Lauren Hanna from Sonic Yoga but have evolved tremendously since I have worked with teachers like Nevine Michaan, Abbie Galvin, Nikki Vallella, Ariel Karass, Phillip Askew, and David Regellin. I don't teach as much flow but do have a sequence that is much more focused on alignment and breathwork and fully understand the poses and the anatomy of each pose.

Yoga physically helped me create more space in my body, find more physical extension and flexibility, enhance my endurance, learn how root down to balance, and develop more strength. Yoga also helped become more aware of my actions, identify negative patterns of thought and improve my mind-body connection.
