Benefits of Vitamin C:
Vitamin C stimulates collagen production and prevents skin inflammation. It is common for one's vitamin C levels to deteriorate with age, excessive sun exposure, and chemicals found in hair dyes and some soaps. Taking vitamin C daily can provide significant protection against these changes and enhance your skin complexion. Emergen-C is fine, I stock up on Liposomal Vitamin C with R-Lipoic acid by QuickSilver Scientific.
Benefits of Vitamin D:
Vitamin D is known to maintain one's overall growth and skeletal health and helps your body fight off a broad spectrum of diseases from the common cold and flu to even cancer. Vitamin D is especially important now more than ever since we are all stuck inside, and our bodies are not getting the proper amount of sunlight. Overexposure to sunlight can be harmful to ones heath, but natural sunlight exposure in moderation is a good way to gain vitamin D. The average dose for adults is 2,500 to 10,000 but for certain patients, I have recommended up to 50,000 IUs for up to four days, if you think you may be exposed to the flu or have early symptoms. (Check with your doctor before dosing this high.)
Note that another easy way to boost your immune system is to eat vitamin-rich foods like peppers, leafy greens, tomatoes, and citrus fruits that are high in vitamin C and D. Enjoy healthy fats like fish, olive oil, nuts, and seeds.
