What are the benefits of drinking chlorophyll water?
Chlorophyll water claims to have many benefits, from skin healing effects to protecting you from cancer. However, it’s important to know which of these claims are backed up by science.
-
There is evidence to suggest that chlorophyll has anti-aging effects that could improve facial wrinkles and skin elasticity. Chlorophyll may improve skin due to its antioxidant activity. This is because antioxidants can prevent potential damage from harmful substances called free radicals in your body.
-
Chlorophyll may even help you reduce your risk for cancer. In fact, one study found chlorophyll may play a role in decreasing the incidence of pancreatic cancer.
-
The proof that chlorophyll can help boost weight loss is lacking. But eating more leafy greens that contain natural forms of chlorophyll is always a safe bet for improving your health. As always, it’s best to take a food-first approach to get all the nutrients you need.
-
Supplements like chlorophyll water can help fill in gaps in your diet, but food will always be the best choice when it comes to nutrition.
How often should one drink chlorophyll water?
There is no recommended daily intake of chlorophyll or chlorophyll water.
According to the FDA and other studies, it is safe to take up to 300 mg of chlorophyll per day, but you shouldn’t exceed that amount. Many people stick to about 100 – 200 mg of chlorophyll in a day. And you can decide whether to divide your intake up between a couple of drinks if you choose.
